The Crow That Ate the Wind
16” x 16” archival print on water colour paper. Suitable for framing or hanging.
“In the dry times. The oh so long, hot, wide open but right on top of you days of smoke and ash. That was when we desperately searched for the crow that ate the wind. For the crow that ate the wind, chose where the fire burned.”
Each work I make is a little myth. A two dimensional legend drawn from the world around me. This year, as the fires closed in around my hometown I thought of the idea of “fighting” the fires. A child-like notion that one could somehow shoot the flames with a slingshot and bring them down the way David brought down Goliath. I thought of the ravens and crows circling above the fire and imagined one with the ability to eat the wind as it blew the flames towards danger and save us all.
This illustration is a tribute to all those who fight the fires against the odds and to those who haven’t made it back from the fight.
Prints will be produced and ready to ship in 2-3 weeks. Local Pickup Available. Unframed.
